You know you're not in Kansas anymore when...
This weekend there were demonstrations, road closures and store closures at various parts of the city. The reason? Funding was cut for ritual animal sacrifices. Not enough Bucks for the Goats (or rupees as it were). Oh would PETA have a field day with this.

Hey, maybe if the U.S. upped their funding for ritual CEO sacrifices, we wouldn't be in this mess. I think the Nepal people are on to something!
And I am fairly certain PETA wouldn't care.
Hope things are back to running well, well you know, in your neck of the woods.

Oh gosh! I'm sure not only did it disrupt everything - but I'm sure it was kind of scary too.
Hoping you stay safe!
Hi Laurel,
I just finished reading your blog and thoroughly enjoyed it. Your spirit shines through the photos and your writing. You make me miss Nepal (I met my husband there and he and his son are here now, but I hope we can eventually retire there, at least part-time). It is wonderful to see that you are arousing curiosity about Nepal in your readers, too. It's such an amazing place, with amazing people. Best wishes to you and your family.

Love the new header!
I wanted to thank you for stopping by my place yesterday...as for my boy in middle school...I'm happy to say that he is doing really well and likes it a lot.
Thanks again...and finding 100 things about yourself is easier than you think...
What?! You've got to be kidding...right?!
Seperation of church and state? We have no clue here in the US do we, funding goat rituals, wow.
I am writing you from Kansas *giggle* Thanks for stopping by my blog when it was featured last week! I'm still trying to catch up with all the comments I got!!
Oh dear. That doesn't sound good at all!!
Sounds like a fascinating place. So much for the usual "heavy traffic" excuse for being late :-)

stumbled across your blog on expatblog.com or whatever it is.
haven't been able to find many foreigners living in Kathmandu who are blogging, so it's nice to see your words about this city!
any advice on locating an expat community here? not working out much!
Oh my! That IS a problem!
I left an award on my blog for you to say thanks for making the blogosphere a beautiful (not to mention fascinating!) place. You're welcome to play along, but mostly I just want you to know you're appreciated, and want my readers to come see you!
